RODERIK takes its name from Edgar Allan Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher, a fitting tribute that reflects the band’s origins during the early days of the global pandemic. Founded by Jake Anthony Salazar and David P.K. on Long Island, NY, RODERIK initially faced a slow start as the world grappled with uncertainty. However, the tide turned in late 2023 when they welcomed Steve Ambro and Rich Rivera, marking a new chapter for the band, now proudly based in New Jersey.
RODERIK blends powerful musical elements with deeply resonant lyrics, offering a raw and honest exploration of the human experience. Salazar’s poignant words draw from his personal journey through mental health struggles, depression, and anxiety, inviting listeners to confront life’s darker aspects.
In June 2024, RODERIK released their highly anticipated Intrusive Thoughts EP, featuring notable singles "Pretty/Lost" and "RICIN." The standout track, "Where'd You Go," featuring Joshua Roberts of the rising pop-punk band Magnolia Park, has already garnered nearly 70,000 streams on Spotify in just under five months, establishing itself as a powerful emo/pop anthem.
Additionally, on September 19, 2024, RODERIK unveiled a reimagined punk-style cover of the 80s pop classic by A-ha, showcasing their versatility and creative flair.
While rooted in post-hardcore, RODERIK’s sound is further enriched by influences from pop, hip-hop, emo, and R&B, creating a unique and dynamic sonic landscape.
